The company wanted to provide a platform to its internal department to communicate easily with fellow workers the achievements, knowledge and automate some of the functions so as to reduce the paperwork as well as maintain a soft-copy of data.
CNPL developed a suite of applications comprising Content Management software, discussion forums, knowledge management, quiz and application forms for the department at HPCL. The intranet application provided a very simple yet effective platform for the department to instantly communicate with all employees located at different locations. The department’s operations are huge in size and involved considerable impact in the achieving organisation’s goals. The services of department to its internal customers i.e. other departments & employees could be easily provided with its intranet portal. The department provided a platform for workforce to discuss different topics and issues. It also created an online knowledge management that enabled different users of the system to convert their knowledge into an electronic document and create a knowledge repository. There was a perceptible value addition for users interacting with the department who have appreciated the complete application and its benefits at large.
The application was built on Windows platform with IIS as the web server, C# as the middle-tier application language and Oracle 9i as the backend database.
